Director of Development (500-hour) - Karen Dubi, ERYT-500, RD
“When I first began taking yoga classes, it was based strictly on physical flexibility and strength training. I committed to a daily practice, and over time my interest in yoga deepened. I had no idea the magnitude of what I was embarking on, but I trusted that it would be a transforming journey. Thereafter, I enrolled at The Yoga Teacher Training Institute, Long Island, where I pursued advanced studies in yoga. I continued learning over the course of the past decade with many renowned teachers in many styles of yoga and focused my studies in the tradition of Ashtanga Yoga.
Currently, I continue my studies of yoga philosophy, yoga sutra, vedic chanting, and ayurveda. My learning interests inspire my own personal growth and development as well as enhance my commitment to teach beginner and well accomplished students of yoga.”
Karen holds three degrees, including Psychology, Biology, and Nutrition. She is a Registered Dietitian and a Counselor of Holistic Nutrition Therapy, which enhances her yoga teaching and compassion for students physically, mentally, and emotionally. Her research and studies allow her to combine the use of scientific devices and energy healing to offer a complete and harmonious approach towards optimum health.
Director of Asana Training (200 hour) - Valerie Nichols E-RYT-500
My yoga journey began over 35 years ago starting with the work of Richard Hittleman and Lilias Folan. My attention to yoga was diverted for a few years to dance and teaching aerobics & body toning classes. Yoga was always in the background and especially needed through the many injuries from dance and aerobics.
About 20 years ago, I found my way to Mokshapriya and the ashram and returned in earnest to the dharma of my yoga practice. In 2002 I participated in YTTI's teacher training program. Now whatever I thought I knew about yoga, I totally surrendered after entering teacher training with Marianne Mitsinikos. I am forever grateful for the excellent foundation Marianne provided.
My current teaching schedule as an E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) includes classes in nursing homes, senior centers, yoga studios (including the ashram in Queens), athletic clubs, for corporations and for private clients. In addition to being a storyteller, I am a Reiki & IET practitioner and teacher. To tell a story is a gift from the heart. Teaching yoga is also a gift from the heart. Let our hearts be open to receive from each other!

Spiraling Hearts games bring the heart of yoga directly to children, wherever and whenever they want to play. I believe that yoga is a wonderful practice to open your heart and connect with the world around you,” says Katie. Katie's yoga games are also ideal for novice adult yoga enthusiasts, encouraging parent–child and teacher-child interaction. Katie developed a love for yoga many years ago.
Over the last few years, she has studied with Marsh Wenig founder of YogaKids, and Shakta Kaur Khalsa, founder of Radiant Child Yoga Program, circus yoga training level one and two with Kevin and Erin O'Keefe, and has received her RYT through the Yoga Teacher Training Institute on Long Island.
Director of Childrens Yoga - Theresa Venezia E-RYT RCYT
Theresa is an ordained minister and an experienced registered yoga teacher, specializing in Bhakti and children’s yoga. She has been practicing yoga since her teen years, using movement as a form of prayer. She became inspired to bring yoga to others when she encountered an instructor who presented it in such beautiful, educational, and fun manner. He encouraged her to take a teacher training, and her search led her to YTTI.
In addition to the unparalleled education that she received from the YTTI founders, Theresa has studied with some more of the best spiritual, yoga, and ayurveda teachers out there today, both privately and in a classroom setting. She teaches yoga, meditation, and healing arts classes and workshops regularly and has been teaching self-empowerment, spirituality, and meditation to children and teens for the past decade. Theresa believes that everything you do in life should cause a smile. She learned from her greatest teacher that there is a game hidden in every task, that your inner child always needs to move and play, and that laughter truly is the best medicine. This is the philosophy that Theresa brings to the yoga classroom and the healing arts. Our Teacher Training is based on the principle that what comes from the heart reaches the heart, and we look forward to having the privilege of that exchange with you.
