Kids Program
Yoga Teachers Training Institute has been training Yoga Teachers for over 12 years. We provide a high quality, professional, comprehensive, and multi-faceted education. Our studios are conveniently located in both Queens and Long Island, and classes alternate between Yogashakti Yoga Center in Queens and Harbor Lights Yoga Center in Huntington. The schedule is designed to be easily incorporated into your busy life at an affordable cost.
Our comprehensive Children's Program focuses on empowering the young, especially teens and pre-teens. Your education will provide you with teachings to give kids tools that empower them to face the physical and emotional challenges like restlessness, lack of concentration, competition, stress, conflict resolution and dealing with feelings of anger and powerlessness. Yoga moves, twists, bends, stretches the body, but also moves, twists, bends, stretches the mind by allowing kids to get in touch with their thoughts and feelings in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Yoga allows children to discover who they are physically and mentally and nourish the beautiful energy they have within. It will instill and develop health, well-being, strength, flexibility, confidence, self-esteem, concentration, and inner calm.

What the Students Say
I am so grateful that I have taken this course. I have learned so much from my instructors. It has been a well-rounded training. Katie's teaching styles is to just immerse yourself and just do it. She is a wonderful example of teaching children in a fun way and her creativity inspires me. Prema brought a lot of issues that are prevalent in today's children and brought out the importance of incorporating the yamas and niyamas in our lessons as well as our lives. Janine broke down the anatomy aspect in a way that kids (and I) can understand by using visuals and reproducible models. Theresa informed us on the nuts and bolts of teaching and the mechanics of getting started. Mokshapriya breaks down the philosophy component in a down-to-earth and practical manner. This course relights my enthusiasm for teaching. The children's teacher training encompassed all the aspects that would equip me to teach yoga to children.
The instructors provided tools and materials for every age group and provided a diving board for other possible creative ideas with the foundation that was already provided. I recommend this course to anyone who is or will be serving the youth community in this day and age. Our children need as much support as possible. Their creativity and self-esteem needs to be developed and nurtured. Yoga is the perfect haven. Rosalie 2011
"WOW" what a program the"Teach Kids Yoga" it was awesome, incredibly fun, interactive and a educational experience. The passion for yoga and the love for children was the core of the program.
The training gave us a wide variety of:
Breathing
child friendly poses
creating themes
how to deal with different age groups
yoga games
partner and group poses
lesson planing/sequencing
how to to prepare for a class
behavior management
marketing and business tips
anatomy
The Yamas/Niyamas and so much more...
I also learned to have plan "B" in my back pocket when teaching children. What a great program that helped me get in touch with the child inside and to show us how to help educate the whole child through yoga.
I wouldn't change a thing, thank you all. Peace Rhodie 2011
